About this deal

If you’re unfamiliar with Misfits, they started selling these plant-based protein bars in 2020, and they’ve exploded onto the scene with very high praise. Last year a friend gave me a box because she hated them, I tried one and they immediately went in the bin. Whether it’s your early morning fuel or a post-gym session snack, simply add a splash of your milk of choice, grab a spoon and dig in. However, regular consumption of artificial sweeteners has been linked to changes in the gut microbiome and they are something I advise my clients to actively avoid. We were expecting a similar difference to things like plant protein bars and powders; however, that is not the case at all in this one.

The powder tastes way better than the previous brands I have tried, its got a good chocolatey flavour and isn't sickly sweet. Misfits is here to prove that grownups needn’t miss out on any of the breakfast time action with its plant-powered line-up of protein-packed creations. From time to time, we might make small recipe changes, therefore please always check the label of the product you have purchased for accurate information. Going through these Misfits protein bars, it was very interesting to see how similar each bar actually looks. The taste of whatever milk you’re having — oat, rice, or cashew — really trumps the flavors of Chocolate and Chocolate Cinnamon Misfits Protein Cereal. It uses a unique blend of plant protein from soy and sunflower and contains all nine essential amino acids that can’t be made by the body. On the other hand, I really wish this tasted more like a chocolate-covered banana and not just a banana.

And a lot comes down to the way we assemble our bars in three incredible layers: a crumbly base, a gooey centre and a rich chocolate topping. Plant-based brand Misfits recently came out with its second-ever product to go alongside its original hit protein snack, the protein-packed Misfits Protein Bar. When you open the box, it smells like you just stepped into a bakery where all they bake are chocolate donuts topped with chocolate frosting. Flavor-wise, this protein bar has a very strong plant-based protein flavor, making it pretty Earthy tasting.

Misfits says that with the new product launch it is targeting younger consumers who love cereal but are dissatisfied with the high sugar content of most brands. The fact that the interior of this bar is chocolate is definitely a welcomed change, but the flavor is still not completely what you’d hope for. Plant Protein Blend: (Pea Protein Isolate, Soya Protein Nuggets ( Soya Protein Isolate, Cocoa, Tapioca Starch), Soya Protein Isolate), Chocolate Flavoured Coating with Sweetener (21%): (Cocoa Butter, Soya Flour, Sweetener: Xylitol, Cocoa Mass, Emulsifier: Sunflower Lecithin, Natural Flavouring), Chicory Root Fibre, Beet Fibre, Emulsifier: Rapeseed Lecithin, Peanut Paste, Humectant: Vegetable Glycerine, Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter, Natural Flavouring, Water, Thickener:Gum Acacia, Green Tea Extract, Sweetener: Steviol Glycosides from Stevia (E960a), Salt, Acidifying Agent :Citric Acid. These bars are unbelievable for meeting the above criteria, I can’t believe how good they taste and a whole bar has 6.

When scored, less than 5ppm of gluten was present in samples, making it safe for those with both a gluten intolerance and coeliac disease.I had heard amazing things about their protein bars, but as a lover of cereal, I needed to give their protein cereal a try first. My daughter loves all the flavours and they’re is a superb, delicious, protein packed snack, to help support through a day full of dance, at Uni. What can I say, misfits have really set the boundaries high for a vegan protein bar that provides 15g of protein and still taste epic like a ‘standard’ chocolate bar.

Considering these are plant-powered bars, I knew that I needed to adjust my expectations going into this review. And unlike most chocolate cereal out there, there is no chocolate runoff from this cereal, so you are not left with chocolate milk to drink at the end. I truly cannot describe the aftertaste, but it was almost a slight burnt taste in the back of my throat. Ideal for those looking for a nutritionally balanced start to the day, each bowl of Eleat contains 12. Surreal’s cereals also contain inulin, which is naturally sweet and is a good source of fibre for your gut.The protein here comes from pea protein and chickpea flour, plus it has a blend of fibre added in with pea and chicory, which will support gut health and bowel function. If you love the combination of chocolate and cinnamon, you’re going to be horribly disappointed by this cereal. It seems like I’ve had nothing but negative things to say about these bars (hey, it’s my job to be honest around here) but Misfits knocked it out of the part with this one. I am in love with the white choc cookie flavour, and a batch of mine got shipped that were slightly squished and very gooey.
