I really love this amplifier. Just be aware, that you will have to be careful about the Tone Room program, since it was not an easy find for me! This is a bit of a long review, forgive my seemingly rambling text. My general review and personal experience with the product comes first. The Vox Valvetronix series artfully marries state-of-the-art digital technology with timeless analogue circuitry, integrating authentic vacuum tubes into the structure. Models like VT20X and VT40X utilise a Valvetronix preamp within their multi-stage amplification circuit. This circuit faithfully mirrors the unique distortion, swift response, and tonal characteristics that are exclusive to classic tube amps and simply cannot be duplicated by digital technology in isolation. How Does It Compare to Other Modeling Amps? Even the amps and pedals on the Tone Room app sound incredible, in my opinion. They aren’t perfect recreations, but the difference between them and the real thing is so slight that it doesn’t really matter. However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers.But a couple of things…does that preamp tube relay bring you closer to real tube tones? Honestly, I don’t think so. I have tested other electric guitar amps modeling tube tones and they sound equally good without and preamp tube (Yamaha THR30 for example). You should get an instant answer on whether your application has been successful, though in some rare cases Klarna or V12 may need to look at the application in more detail. Effects are pivotal in moulding your sound. The VT20X and VT40X offer four distortion and dynamics effects for placement before the amp stage, four spatial-type effects such as flanger and delay, and four reverbs, totalling to 12 in-built effects. Alongside Noise Reduction, you can employ up to four effects concurrently. Furthermore, each effect comes with multiple parameters, offering you the liberty to instantly achieve your desired sound. A handy tap switch is also included, facilitating easy setting of delay time or modulation speed. Up to 30 presets VOX 2ch Audio Driver may not work on some PCs, and it may prevent some applications from working properly. The upgraded capabilities of the DSP has significantly enhanced the sound quality of each amp model. Our use of highly advanced DSP has led to remarkable improvements, not only in the sampling rate and the audio output of each amp model, but also in the quality of the effects that form the core of sound shaping. This amp manages to be all three at once. The preamp circuit is entirely digital with an in depth modelling engine that gives you ultimate control over the sound. The poweramp on the other hand mixes valve, digital and analogue with a single valve, digital controls and all analogue circuitry underneath. Taking advantage of every type of circuit this amp really delivers way above its price point.Percent program mode. With the amp model knob, you can switch between different done for you presets. When you adjust settings, only then the tone will change.

Hall reverb=Gives a great ambiance to tone. Works great with distorted leads and with cleans overall. The intricate modelling technology, a legacy of the Valvetronix series, provides an exhaustive range of varied amp sounds. With 11 amp models (extended to 20 types when using the editor/librarian software), you can recreate the sound of some of the most coveted tube amps amongst guitarists, encompassing elusive vintage amps and high-end boutique amps. Models of the newest high-gain amps are also incorporated, delivering the versatility you require for a spectrum of playing styles and genres. On-board effects The VT20X is a hybrid amp that uses both digital and analog methods to reproduce the sounds of other amps. Access to VOX Toneroom app via cable (works with PC, MAC, and with tablets and phones too). There are literally 100’s of tone options, I will publish a separate blog post about that soon. Mic’d up, I can certainly picture using this amp for most smaller venues, but the bigger VT40X might be the better option as a gigging amp. I would say the VT20X is much better suited as a practice amp.However, when compared side-by-side with the real thing, the difference between the Valvetronix’s built-in tonal arsenal and the genuine article is clear. It's really quite a gem. At this price, it's unbeatable. There really isn't anything else on the market for a bedroom player like myself, such as this. Not to mention, it has a separate volume and 'power' knob. Meaning I can get it to just the right loudness by manipulating the 'power' knob and the 'volume' knob together. Most amplifiers I've used really go from 0 to 100 really fast when you try to get low volumes, this is not the case with this amp!

Please note that this extended warranty is currently only available on products sold within the UK, EU or EEA, and is subject to the terms and conditions as detailed on the extended warranty certificate provided. However, to a discerning ear, none of the tones on offer are exactly right for what they aim to do. Even the AC30-esque sound is a little off, with less twang and jangle than that classic clean British amp.

Tone Room editor/librarian software for customizing amps and effects When you plug in the amp for the first time you can set up your own range of tones from the 11 amp models and 12 effects on the top panel. No extra software required just plug in and get playing straight out of the box. If you want to make sure your tone is yours though you can set up the three user amps up through the included ToneRoom Editor software.
