About this deal

No disrespect to Eric LaRocca but maybe they doesn’t get out much. There are some verrrry gruesome books and stories out there, not to mention movies. This was like a 3.5 on a scale of 1 to 10. It was a trifle nauseating in places, and I most people shouldn’t read this while eating lunch. But people, you shouldn’t read and eat anyway. You might get stuff on your book.

Part of him knows that eventually the sales will start to fade, but they just… haven’t yet. “It's a little scary, too. Like it means that this weird thing I've been working on for years is capable of growing beyond the small, amazing sphere of fans that we have.” Verna must battle both man and monster to protect her family and her newfound love for Audrey, a refugee from the mainland.

Samantha Kolesnik’s return from her retirement from writing is here! And it’s quite different from her other books but incredible in its own way. Plus holy shit look at the cover art from Evangeline Gallagher! Which is, to be fair, really not that hard to achieve as I literally jumped at the most predictable, low budget jump scare in a children's movie about 3 kid detectives the other day, so that's how pathetic I am easy it is to scare me. The Repress of Sam Richard’s 2019 Wonderland Award-winning collection, To Wallow in Ash & Other Sorrows is finally here. Our final release of 2021 and a book that went promptly out of print following its Wonderland win, To Wallow in Ash & Other Sorrows is an urgent animal cry from the depths of grief and loss. With most of the stories written in the weeks and months following the sudden death of his wife, Sam Richard strips bare the uncomfortable truths of despair and longing for someone ripped from this world far too soon. In the spirit of Kathe Koja, JG Ballard, and Georges Bataille, these stories are painfully personal and deeply unsettling, but also all to familiar for those who’ve experienced intimate loss.

This was probably one of the dumbest books i have ever had the chance to read. I was very eager to try this book and really thought it would be a favorite or at the very least, entertaining. Unfortunately, it was neither and maybe that's why I wanted to rant about it. I know there’s a line in here about how sometimes there is no point other than to disturb and like… nah I want a point lol. This novella is a…novella within a novella. I don’t want to give much away because you seriously need to go into this knowing nothing. Nothing. Hell, even if I wrote paragraph upon paragraph of what this book entails, it still wouldn’t prepare you for the roller-coaster that LaRocca so brilliantly crafted. If you’ve read THGWSWLS, you’ll definitely appreciate the format of this book, how the novella is constructed with texts, poems and transcripts, all crafted into one disturbing little archive. Some horror walks you down a dark corridor, where there’s whispers and laughter, sobs and screams. Other horror starts down at the end of that corridor, where there’s a door that opens on to you don’t know what. Read this, and then decide where Eric LaRocca has left you. Not that it matters. There’s no way out.”– Stephen Graham Jones, author of The Only Good Indians and My Heart is a Chainsaw Each precious thing I show you in this book is a holy relic from the night we both perished-the night when I combed you from my hair and watered the moon with your blood.

I liked the Oedipus element, the implication that Agnes will stab her eyes out after her girlfriend leaves her like her mother did. However, it was both underutilised and over-explained. The official release date is 11/15 and we’re hoping to have our copies a little earlier than that so we can get them to everyone a bit early. Most of the horror elements are little stories that the two women tell each other and which have nothing to do with what you're here for — a downward spiral of a terrible, bad sadomasochistic relationship. Richard is taking an “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach to his newfound success. Despite having more eyes on Weirdpunk, he plans to continue conducting business as usual, though he might up the number of subscriptions for 2022 novellas from 30 by a bit.

Please note: This review may not be reproduced or quoted, in whole or in part, without explicit consent from the author. The ending redeemed this book quite a lot for me, it explained the dismembered feel of the whole book. But it’s just not good enough to justify how bad the book feels (except the novella, a full star goes to it). I suffered through this book, and not in a good way. The son’s manner of death in The Enchantment didn’t seem physically possible but, because it fit with one of the themes of the story, I wasn’t overly concerned about the question marks that popped up over my head when I read about it. Last year, with Richard at the helm, Weirdpunk started publishing horror novellas. Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke, released this June, was the indie publisher’s seventh short and spooky release.

Fourth, plot. This is all about a slave/mistress relationship and I got to say that the main plot development took a lot of swallowing, which if you have read this already, you will know what I mean. This was a big disappointment, mostly because I had seen how many people loved the first and titular story of the three published in this collection. It's certainly the best story here, but sadly that isn't saying much.

It was a fun read, gives a thrill at the end. This book contains a bit of violence which didn't reach that horrific level for me but was actually entertaining however all the wires and electrical stuff was quite hard for me to imagine. Bad People Abuse Animals: The point where it's apparent Zoe is not as nice of a person as she appears is where she commands Agnes to find a salamander in the park and kill it. In the final story, A man has trouble standing up for himself due to a longtime habit of politeness that has been deeply ingrained in his psyche since childhood. Now, let's take a few minutes to talk about the plot because if I had to read that, there is no way other people don't get to hear about it too.
